About the Centre

The Centre for Documentation of Helena Modjeska's Life and Art was established by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University, Prof. Karol Musioł, PhD, on 1 August 2009.

The objectives of the Centre are to foster the memory of Helena Modjeska, to disseminate knowledge about her life and art, both in scientific circles and outside academia, to document new, unknown facts about the artist.

In the Centre, the collected source materials related to the life, activity, creativity and reception of the actress's work are processed and catalogued. Also, the contemporary activities related to the actress, cultural projects, scientific, popular science and fiction publications are being documented. The results of the research are presented in the form of publications, at conferences, scientific seminars and lectures.

In order to carry out the assumed plans, the Centre cooperates closely with the Foundation for Support of Modjeska's Life and Art Research: www.modjeskafoundation.org
